My personal opinion on what should be taken out of the readings is nothing. I feel as though the schedule was planned very well. I have taken from this English class a lot of knowledge. I have enjoyed this class and I feel like everything should be taught as it has for the next classes unless some new material is added. Christopher Columbus was made out to be a bad guy when I was in elementary-middle school. After attending this English 251 class and learning that Columbus was not as bad of dude, he actually had a heart toward the voyages he traveled. Can you believe that all these years have passed and I thought Columbus was really a bad guy and it turns out he was not. If anything could be added to the class I would prefer learning a little more than we did on Mister Frederick Douglas. He was very interesting to learn about.

Favorite piece of Literature for the semester
My favorite piece of literature this semester was reading about Frederick Douglas and Olauda Equiano. Mister Frederick Douglas was smart as a kid. he figured out how to trade his goods for lessons taught by the white kids. Even though he did this He was brilliant to give them a complement in writing about his story and not addressing them by their name to embarrass them. Mister Frederick Douglas gave multiple insight to what he endured and others while being slaves. He gave insight to what happened without insult toward anyone. He wrote about how the master’s wife would cradle him and treat him with kindness as if he were her own child. Even though she was made to be mean toward him he forgave her within himself because at an early age he recognized right and wrong.
Crispus Attucks
Googling “the first casualty of the American Revolution” I found out that Crispus Attucks was one of the five men that were killed by the police in Boston. This event was known as The Boston Massacre. John Adams was a lawyer who made Crispus Attucks out to be a villain/evil person who wanted to attack the law. He was not only black he was mixed with African and Nantucket Indian. The black community considered Crispus Attucks as a hero in the Boston Massacre. I did not know that blacks could not be buried back in the seventeen hundreds. The deceased Adams became president afterwards. People such as Patriots and Propagandists deemed as “symbols of Liberty and instant martyrs” (PBS 1). It was very interesting to read, a lot of this information I did not know.
Local native American history
The Indian removal policy by Andrew Jackson was the removal of all Cherokee nations (forced out of their native land) made to migrate toward the Mississippi River and east to Oklahoma. The Cherokee people were faced with many hardships on this move. They were faced with hunger, disease, and exhaustion for all ages. Some even died on this journey they were forced to endure. Even though they fought back they were successful in the supreme court but Andrew Jackson did not uphold the law that was decided for them and he still forced the Cherokee people out. The Cherokee people were forced from their homeland and nothing was done about it. The hardships that the Cherokee people endured later became known as the trail of tears. These people had the right to stay in their native land decided by the government but one man alone had the power to overthrow what was decided. I further have noticed that if you think you are bigger than the law and do something of this statue and the law does not hold you accountable then something is wrong.
Walt Whitman
The American spirit has shown that through tough times we can stand and try to make a difference. The people cannot do it fast enough with all the rules and laws that are in place for the head CEO and corporations. If the corporations feel as though they are loosing money then they find ways to accommodate their business from going under. Jobs that go cross seas are paying less for more or the same amount of product. corporations do not care for the people who run the machines only for keeping their money just right. How can the community bounce back when the only companies to work at or closing down left and right. The government is not replacing the jobs fast enough . The common enemy is more money, more power and deception above all.
Douglas-strengthen argument or argument suffer
I applaud Mister Frederick Douglas for being able to see that all people that were involved with slave owning were not all bad. individuals. Slave owners were thrown into slavery business like slaves. Frederick Douglas figured out ways to get someone to teach him even when he knew the consequences. mister Douglas does not need a group of people to blame because the culprit was both sides either being mad a slave to slavery or forced into slavery as the slaves were. Mister gave insight to slavery and how he was able to overcome what happened to him. He felt sorry for his master’s wife but he also knew as a kid that she was made to be mean and cruel., to have that understanding and knowledge as a kid speak volumes.
Settling in New World
The worst part about settling the New World would have been not knowing what would have been waiting on the other side. Multiple thoughts would have crossed my mind like, Will it just be “us” that are traveling to this land that is unknown to all of us. Are there things that can kill us, are there people waiting on the other side to greet us or harm us. A trip to the New World and we are being rationed out a little of food, ale, and water can cause riots amongst the group. I would have fought because the head person in charge is eating good while we starve if we had nothing to pay our way or tides to the king. The food has worms in it, people were getting sick and dying. I would have tried to survive and just prayed that I was not next. I personally would have tried to figure out some grand gesture, including going against the head person. People were getting sic, living in filthy conditioned while nothing happens to The head leader.
Nature fits into my life
Nature fits into my life because we are a fishing and hunting family. I love the way the birds chirp in the gleam of the early mourn. When we are sitting there in complete silence waiting on the deer to kill, my heart races but I love the thrill that I get out of it. There is nothing like watching your fishing cork play a peek a boo I see you under the water just to let you know you have a nibble. The cork goes under and stay a while and it dances under the water until I can get the fish up. The different size fish and class is amazing. You may be fishing for bass, catfish, and crappies. Fishing and watching nature is a weird but very relaxing and fun way to do things. Hunting excites me too. There is nothing like sitting in your that deer stand waiting patiently in the midst of the dawn hours. morning is the best time to hunt, fish, and observe the sunset in the blue sky. Nature in my life has taught me patience, and how to open my heart and eyes to the endless possibilities. Nature is awesome.
Weird thing at a funeral
The weirdest thing I have ever saw at a funeral was when a person, not gonna call their name, kissed the dead person in the casket in the mouth. I mean they tongued the dead person as if they were still alive, now that was nasty, weird, scary, and gross. They had been together for 63 years or better. The spouse stated that he had to get one more kiss from his wife because the kiss was so good when she was alive and well. The kiss could not have been the same I guarantee you that because she was dead. The wife was dead what interaction could she possibly have gave back, none. I would not have believed it if I did not see that for myself, but it happened. I did not hear it from someone else’s mouth I actually saw this happen. I could not believe it. I understand a fair well kiss on the cheek or forehead but the mouth that was pure nasty. I did not want to go to another funeral for a while for the fear of not knowing what a person would do next.
Thanatopsis Death
Death is unknown to myself and others. We are taught at an early age that we shall not fear death, but come on as humans, we all fear death. Death is that moment in life that will have a person re-evaluate their whole lifestyle or life choice. We only fear death as humans because it is unknown to us and personally I have never had someone come back from death and tell me how they are living. Death can have someone re-evaluate their life or continuously head down the wrong path until they are faced one on one with death itself. it is scary and creepy because we have no knowledge of what is at the other end of our ended life. So as humans, we fear the unknown. We as people live to die. We are born to die because of our ancestors facts pertaining to this earth or maybe we are puppets stuck just dancing along in this dimension.
