The understanding that I had of Columbus was that he was a very nasty ( stealing, robbing, and imprisoning people) individual that you would not want to be around. However, after reading about Columbus my viewpoint has changed a little. I have learned that as a man Columbus was a descent guy. He made sure that his soldiers did not take anything from the homes that they intruded upon. A true leader with a caring heart would have only stood firm to his word, Columbus did. Columbus took enough aloe trees that he discovered and the snakeskin he kept for his highness. He did not rob the Native American people as I was taught in school. Columbus had to be a good leader because he traded hawk’s bells and glass beads for water for his crew to take on their voyage from there.
